Do I need a licensed contractor to remove asbestos?

Most higher-risk work, including most removal of asbestos insulation, sprayed coatings and asbestos insulating board (AIB), requires an HSE-licensed contractor. Some work is non-licensed or notifiable non-licensed. The category depends on the material, its condition and the nature and duration of the work, rather than the material name alone. All categories require appropriate training and controls. We can discuss the assessment needed for your project.

How long does asbestos removal take?

This depends on the type and quantity of material, the access conditions, and the building use. A typical domestic job may take 1-3 days, while larger commercial projects can take several weeks. We provide a clear timeline in our quote.

Is it safe to stay in the building during removal?

For licensed work, occupied areas are sealed off from the work zone using airlocks and negative pressure units. Air monitoring is carried out as required under the regulations for licensed work. For non-licensed work, appropriate controls are put in place to prevent fibre release. We will always advise you on whether temporary relocation is needed.
